Jackie McLean compta amb la col·laboració ni mes ni menys que d'Ornette Coleman a la trompeta en aquesta grabació per blue note amb només tres temes. El primer tema, Lifeline, dividit en quatre parts, ocupava tota la cara A del LP. I arranca salvatgement per anar reduint el ritme i acabar amb un Inevitable End on van desapareixent els instruments i un a un. A la cara B hi trobem dos composicions d'en Coleman: L'adictiu swing de Old Gospel (que com el seu nom indica està composada seguint els ritmes d'un vell gospel cantat a les esglésies Pentacostals), i la mes nocturna de totes tres Strange As It Seems.

Ornette plays the trumpet, and McLean alto. Lamont Johnson at the piano, Scott Holt bass and Billy Higgins drums. The second track is delicious. I think this is one of the best works from McLean and it´s a pity there´s no more colaborations Coleman-McLean (I think)
